Who are we?

We are MLC 2006 certified seafarers recruitment and placement agency. Today in Croatia there are between 20 000 and 26 000 active seafarers, mostly officers and engineers making Croatia one of the leading maritime countries.

Our founder and CEO, Adrijan Susa, has more than 23 years of experience on board different types of vessels, of which the last 10 years he spent working offshore within the oil and gas industry (Angola, Brazil, Falkland Islands, Greenland), therefore giving us an advantage by fully understanding the nature of the business, client needs, and operational procedures.

Adrijan Šuša

CEO

Co-founder of Azara with 15 years of experience in marketing, sales, and business development. Responsible for finance, strategic planning, business development, and employee relations.

Anita G. Šuša

Managing Director

Experienced in HR and project management. Ensuring the team consistently follows the procedures set out in the QMS. Assisting in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Training and overseeing employees.

Tomislav Plazanjić

General Manager

Experienced in crewing and recruitment. In charge of all crewing activities including seafarer’s employment, staffing, compensation, training, and development. Overseeing recruitment department.

2007
Launching of pomorac.hr

First Internet news site for seafarers in this part of Europe. Founded with aim to help young seafarers in need for information. Soon it became most read maritime news source in the region.

2009
Croatian Seafarers Association establishment

As one of the founders and president of Croatian Seafarers Association, Adrijan Susa participated as Croatian seafarers’ representative in meetings with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, involved in reforming the maritime code and adopting to EU legislation upon entrance of Croatia in the EU.

2012
Azara crew agency – offshore oil & gas recruitment

Start-up of Azara crew agency. Entering iNAVIS, a joint Norwegian-Croatian project established to promote cooperation between these two countries within maritime sector gave us great start up support and training from our Norwegian business partners.

2013
Associations

Azara crew agency joins the CROSMA (Croatian Ship manning association) that gathers Croatian manning agencies in order to promote maritime occupations. CROSMA is also a member of EUROCREW association.

2015
Expanding into new market – Product tankers & VLCC fleet

Strong partnership with the world’s largest owners and operators of very large crude carriers and chemical tankers.

2020
AZARA expands into an employment business

Extensions in our services in manning and employment in accordance with the EU Regulation 883/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29th April 2004 on the coordination of social security systems (EEA and Switzerland) – Eva employment ltd
